Should I complete Diablo II before installing the expansion?
You should install the expansion before starting with Diablo II. Diablo II is the main game and offers 5 classes to play as (Amazon, Barbarian, Necromancer, Paladin and Sorceress) and 4 Acts of storyline and quests to play through. However, the expansion adds 2 new classes to choose from (Druid and Assassin), an extra Act to the storyline and has other little advantages like increasing the size of the stash where you store your items. The changes like increased stash size are applied to the whole of Diablo II’s content as well as the expansion areas which is why it’s best to have the expansion installed even if you’re not interested in playing as a druid/assassin. Diablo II: LoD is an add-on to Diablo II btw, not ‘the complete version’ or anything – you need Diablo II to be able to play the expansion.
