The name on your passport should match your legal name. If you kept your maiden name, then keep your old passport. If you took your husband’s surname, then you will need a new passport and other ID. You will be able to apply for the visa in either name and the documentation you will be required to provide and information on the application itself will clear up any confusion. Apart from actually getting your visa though, if you have taken your husband’s surname and intend using it from now on, you will find it easier if everything is in that name. Otherwise, you will find that you will need your passport AND Marriage Certificate to open bank accounts, sign leases etc in your new name.
