Should I call 3 contractors and get 3 bidshoping to get paid for the middle estimate?
That all depends on the contractor you select. Many contractors haven’t a clue about insurance claims process. Furthermore, not many know how to write an insurance estimate and many just don’t care. All their interested in, is getting your money and the job. If the contractor was smart’he would get our ‘contractors kit.’ A contractor that is not insurance intuitive could hurt you instead of helping you. Another point to consider is, ‘some’ contractors feel they can charge two-three times the amount because it being an insurance claim. This is a bad move and mistake! Remember, this is where the $$$ is and if your contractor is clueless then what good is that?
