Should I buy a Black or Red Doberman Pinscher?
For that kind of money, the dog must come from a breeder with an impeccable reputation for breeding healthy, champion dogs. Typically I’ve seen such Dobies going for $1500. Usually the more expensive dogs tend to have extra-special traits, such as breeding from a line of serious protection dogs. Red or black? I have the same question. I’ve owed two black/tans and have seen some beautiful reds that range from rusty red to chocolate brown. They’re all beautiful though. Fawns, blues and whites tend to have skin issues when over-exposed to the sun. Bear that in mind. And I hate to tell you, but unless you brush your Dobie at least three times a week, you’ll find plenty of short black/tan hairs around the house. The good news is that they love the attention and it usually only takes about 10 minutes or less. As to color… when seeing puppies, keep and open mind.
