Should I bring travellers cheques, credit/debit cards or cash to Thailand?

0

Most people now go for credit and debit cards over travellers cheques. Their main advantage is that exchange booths don’t have to be open for you to be able to change money. The main disadvantage is higher fees and a second disadvantage can be the ATM machine eating your card. If you are planning on using a credit or debit card, be sure to check with your bank to find out what charges they’ll slap on you. We’d suggest even taking at least one or two travellers cheques just in case of emergency, such as theft or a hungry machine. If planning on using a credit card for much of the trip, let your bank know. We had a friend in a quandary when their bank cancelled their card, figuring that a sudden rash of Thailand purchases suggests a stolen card being rung up.
