Should I adopt a kitten from a breeder with the herpes virus?

0

Cat herpes is a similar virus to the one that causes cold sores in humans, and is totally unrelated to the STD herpes. And while it isn’t a big deal, a *reputable* breeder will not sell you a herpes-infected cat. It’s common in cats from shelter environments, but that’s a whole different thing. Herpes can be very serious, or very mild. Left untreated it can cause a film over the eye, scarring, loss of vision in the eye and even loss of the eye! It can be expensive to treat, or the kind of thing that once a kitten’s immune system is stronger, you’ll rarely see it again. You just don’t know. Again, reputable breeders won’t sell you a kitten with an active herpes infection. Look elsewhere.
