Should homeschoolers be concerened with the NEA?
Anonymous, September 26, 2007: – (NEA) – With 3.2 million members and a budget of over $300 million, The real issue is that the NEA with all it’s resources is miffed because the homeschooled child consistently triumphs at the National Spelling Bee. If homeschoolers were to share the award now and again maybe we could all get along. Of the teachers I know personally, none of them belongs to NEA, and they generally have good perceptions of homeschooliong. But the current political trends dictate that groups like the NEA would like to see more federal control of education, possibly nulling state laws regarding homeschooling.
