Should Home Office bring immigrant workers to UK to heat up foods in microwave and serve to customers?
The immigration scheme was introduced to address severe shortages in certain fields of work. For whatever reason, some employment areas are difficult to obtain UK workers and then retain them. This may be due to the nature of the work or the salary on offer, or a mixture of both. As to whether that’s right or wrong, or fair to the locals or unfair to the immigrants is a heated topic. Some locals argue that foreigners are stealing their jobs. Some immigrants complain about the conditions, wage and hours. Some, and I am one of these, see the benefit in the system: the immigrant earns pounds, sees another country, learns a new language and becomes available to opportunities that the UK has to offer while the UK is provided with a service that would otherwise not have been filled by a UK citizen.
