Should Harry Potter author, JK Rowling, have announced that the character Albus Dumbledore was gay?
I have answered Yes to this question although it would be more appropriate to say my answer is ‘I don’t mind’. I am a massive Harry Potter fan. I actually discovered the first book hiding in a small bookshelf before it was famous, before anyone I knew had read, before the movie deals and before the hype. The books captured my imagination and I spend the next three years reciting the stories to my parents and sister. Of course when the fourth book came out the movie deal was signed – everyone then bought it. Despite the whole world suddenly reading my favourite book, I must admit I felt a bit jealous, the magic I felt never wavered. Dumbledore of course was a pivotal character to the books. He was Harry’s role model, mentor and father figure. He knew everything and he was unimaginably powerful.
