Should Hamlet kill Claudius?
Here’s a few for you Pros He is almost certain that Claudius killed his father and wants revenge He will probably become king after Claudius dies To protect his mother He knows that Claudius has been plotting against him and sending people to spy on him Horatio agrees with him Claudius, as well as killing his father, married his brother’s wife and stole the crown Cons He is a very popular king and everyone might turn against him There is always a chance that Hamlet could be wrong and Claudius didn’t commit the murder If Hamlet murders Claudius, doesn’t that just make him as bad as Claudius Gertrude may hate Hamlet as a result Horatio is the only one who agrees with him What happens if he gets to a point where he is about to kill Claudius but then doesn’t have the courage to go through with it? He would be arrested and he would not have got revenge. And nobody would believe him as there is no proof of the murder.
