Yes. For one thing, many of them are probably more competent at it. For another, repo companies have to account for their employees. If their underlings boost cars that do not have a valid repo order on them then that costs the company and the repo man will likely wind up back in the clink. Bad all around, so the repo guy will restrict his expertise *only* to the job that he is hired for. Now, if I were an employer and I saw a guy with job-relevant skills who was trying to set his life straight, I would give him a chance before I let some guy with no demonstrable skills and a clean record suck money out of my wallet. Worst-case scenario is that I have to turn them in to their parole officer before they are eligible for insurance benefits. And if they commit other crimes “off the clock” then they will be back in the slammer regardless.
