Should families with children be housed in high rise flats?
Well said Emily hobhouse….Councils have got it all wrong, and I have been saying for years, that old people who live in under-occupied houses, should be made to free them up to families who live in high rise flats, especiall in this day and age, with the housing crisis the way it is.High rise could make wonderful safe homes for the elderly, if properly managed, and maintained. I think it is only fair for the Councils to force people who’s families have grown and gone, to give up the houses, and move to more fitting accommodation for single people or couples, High rise flats would make the perfect home. There is a block in Birmingham that was converted for use of the elderly, as an experiment, and it’s worked really well. The whole ground floor has been turned into leisure, and relaxation facilities for the “oldies” with T dances, Bingo, whist drives, e.t.c. and they love it, security doors stop vandalism, the old people are happy to be amongst people just their own age and the counci
