Should e-mail replace meetings and other face-to-face communication in a company?

My personal opinion is this. Too much time is wasted in face to face meetings since you have to listen to posturings, soapbox presentations, non productive prattle and discussions, tossing blame around, only to discover that nobody , absolutely NOBODY did anything but kept going to meetings and wasting each others time all these years, nay decades.. On the other hand, when will you ever get to wear that Prada or Versace power suit or shoes sitting in your closet.
