Should drug addicts and alcholics get benefits if they are not clean?
To be honest, many dependent drug users benefit’s don’t last two minutes, so they tend to have to resort to crimes (be that theft, mugging, etc) to continue using to prevent withdrawl symptoms anyway or become sex workers, or rack up huge debt. Much better, would be to decriminalise drug use, similar to Portugal http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/ind… that way, drug users get into treatment quicker, unclog the prisons and actually see a significant fall in illegal drug use, etc. EDIT: Good point well made Cherry.
