A. Yes, if the employees involved have or will occupy positions that are considered key positions important to safety or waste isolation. “Identification of key positions that are assigned responsibility for safety at and operation of the geologic repository operations area” is required by 10 CFR 63.21. 10 CFR 63 Subpart H requires that operation of repository systems and components important to safety must be performed only by trained and certified personnel under the direct visual supervision of an individual with training and certification in the same operation.
