A. Documents related to the control of items obtained via QA-controlled procurement (i.e., items important to safety or waste isolation) should be included. Records documenting that material and equipment received conform to QA-controlled procurement requirements also should be included. DOE is required by 10 CFR 63.142 to have a program to assure that purchased material, equipment and services affecting quality conform to procurement documents. DOE must also establish a program to ensure that materials, parts and components are properly identified, and the identification must be maintained either on the item or on records traceable to the item. In addition, measures must be established to control the handling, storage, shipping, cleaning and preservation of material and equipment in accordance with work instructions to prevent damage or deterioration.
