Should DFO Furniture really close two of its outlet stores?
DFO Designer Furniture Outlet, the value-oriented retailer started by the owner of Today’s Home, is closing down two of its stores. The company ran stores-closing-forever sales over the weekend at its stores in Monroeville and Robinson Township that were advertised in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Jeff Lechner, the second-generation owner of Today’s Home, said he plans to redevelop the Monroeville property for something else yet to be determined. The Robinson store will move to Greentree, near where the company already has a Today’s Home store. Lechner first opened DFO as a new growth vehicle in 2002, opening the first DFO at the Pointe at North Fayette and then converting a Today’s Home store in Monroeville to DFO in 2004. The company continues to operate Today’s Home locations in Green Tree, Monroeville and Ross Township. Dick Roberts, a spokesman for the company, said the closing of the DFO locations was motivated by the end of its leases. Sources:
