Should Cruise Control Become Compulsory On All New Cars?

0

Cruise control (IMO) is NOT a good thing. Too much technology within a car makes drivers less aware of the overall dangers of driving. Take ABS and traction control for example. They take away the “feel” a driver should have and should anything untoward happen then they have no idea how to control things like skids etc. because they have no experience and believe that the technology will do all the work. A perfect example of that recently has been all the adverse weather we have had and the amount of people it showed who have absolutely no idea how to control a car in adverse conditions. Cruise control can make drivers lose concentration, I have seen it many times on motorways both whilst as a passenger and also as an observer from another car. I agree that there is a lot of unnecessary braking on roads, but again that is down to bad driving and cruise control or any sort of speed control will not change this in fact anything which takes control away from the driver or makes the driver
