Poll: Should Congress Renew No Child Left Behind? Thursday March 15, 2007Yesterday’s Washington Post reported that lawmakers are now calling the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) goals “Out of Reach.” The law calls for all schools to get 100% of their students to grade level (in reading and math) by the year 2014. Failure to make “adequate yearly progress” towards this goal can lead to government intervention and even staff firings. Congress is beginning to debate whether the law should be renewed or not.
