Should Christians obey the law if they believe the law to be wrong?
no, we are not under the law anymore but under grace, the law died when christ rose from the dead, and yes we should obey God rather than human authority, but the bible says that if we do that then we must be prepared to suffer consequences of the government! Ex, Paul and Silas, being thrown in jail for preaching the gospel, or John the Baptist being beheaded for preaching the gospel, the law is not wrong, gods word is not wrong, the bible says that god never changes and his word doesn’t change, it doesn’t matter what day and time we live in, people have changed and god’s word doesn’t, but we should still keep the law, but it doesn’t save us, if we do and it doesn’t “unsave” us if we don’t!
We obey the laws of whatever country we live in, unless they conflict with the law of God, and in that case, we do not. If the law tells us we cannot meet together for worship, we have to obey the command to ‘not forsake the gathering of ourselves together’. If the law demands that we serve in military service, we are conscientious objectors, and obey Jesus. The governments stand in their relative places of authority by the permission of God, but they are not the final authority-He is. As a rule, true christians are THE most law-abiding group in any nation. Time after time we are hired and retained because of our honesty and integrity.
