Should Christians meddle in politics?

We do it to keep religion as a freedom. If there were no religious people in politics religion would be banned since it is not their beliefs.

I think it is ok for people or any religion (or no religion) to be involved in politics. The problem is when people (in this country, usually Christians) try to impose their religious beliefs on everyone else and try to make their religion into law.

If you’re basing your question on whether politics has a negative impact on a person, then it’s really not a good career for anyone of moral character – Christian, Muslim, Jew, atheist, or otherwise. If you’re asking if a Christian belongs in politics, then I would say of course (even though I am atheist). Every person brings a unique perspective to the table which is based on their personal beliefs and life experience. Many different points of view are needed and welcome in any debate. The problem arises when people attempt to use the government to impose religious ideas on the population as a whole.

Uh no, christians should stay out of everything if they are the kind that cant keep their personal opinions and beliefs out of other peoples rights. We have separation of church and state, to me that means we shouldnt have anyone wanting to “stay true to his (or her, Sarah Palin) faith” in any publicly funded with my tax dollars office. I dont want to turn on the TV and hear another person like dubya talking about how homosexuality is a sin and we must protect the “sanctity of marriage” (give me a break *roles eyes*). That is MY TAX DOLLARS and YOUR TAX DOLLARS being used to go against the rights of someone else, to OSTRACIZE members of the community. They are standing in the way of certain peoples right to pursue happiness simply on a biblical basis. This is only one example of course there are many many more. I care about all people and laws should be made to help the population of America as a whole, not just cater to those who thump the bible in public and take their frustrations i

One of the callings that Jesus gave to his followers were that they were to be “the salt of earth”. The reference was to salt as a cleansing and purifying agent. As such, he was stated the all Christians have a responsibility to be involved in trying to clean up society, its laws, politics, etc. Politics is only “dirty” when the person involved is dirty. Put in someone who has morals and lives by them, and they will not be “dirty” in their position. The apostle Paul spoke about civil governments, and said that they were ordained by God and that Christians who held such office were “ministers for God” in those positions. If you look at the people within the Bible, you will find that many of the best known Bible heroes were “politicians”. Moses was the leader of a nation, and “meddled” in the politics of Egypt to free his people. David was a king, as was his son Solomon. Between them they produced most of the poetry books of the Bibles. Joseph was the second-in-command of the land of Egy
