Should children carry mobile phones?
I think that anyone who is in eighth grade or younger has no real reason to need a cell phone. As for 13-16, I think there is the possibility to have a “family” cell, so that when someone needs it (for staying after school, hanging out at the mall with friends, etc), it is available, but otherwise is not for use. Finally, once a teen gets his/her driver’s license, I think they need a full-time cell phone, for any emergencies, plan changes, etc while they are out on their own. That’s the way it worked in my family, and it worked out really well. Children do not need to be able to call their friends 24/7, and parents should be responsible enough to know how to contact their children without the children needing a cell phone. Additionally, children are rarely responsible enough to realize the cost implications of having and taking good care of a cell phone.
When I hear “Children” I think of 12 and under. Teens/kids would be 13 and up. I think children should be allowed to carry mobile phones (a family phone, as others have put it) but they shouldn’t own one until at least 13. And that would be a bit of a stretch in itself. While there are some mature children out there, I could never really trust one entirely not to break or ruin the phone in some way. Mobile phones are essential for emergencies; if there was a fire at my child’s school for example, and the school phone was obviously unusable, I would much rather know that my child is safe rather than having to wait a few hours to hear from the school. When children enter puberty (13, IMO, though I do realize that there are some late bloomers) then they’re expected to be more responsible for their own actions. In one common example, likely to go out, impromptu, with their friends. It is fine as long as they call first and say “hey, I’m going to a friend’s house.” For teens 16+, a cell pho
I am guess this is for a speech or essay or something so what I will do is give you some general points and then some for and against. General: *It is completely unnecessary for children under the age of about 14 to be carrying a mobile phone however this age will vary. For example for a child as young as 12 or 13 who lives in the inner city of Sydney may be required has catch various forms of public transport to get to school and my have to travel for an extended period of time. It this case I do believe any responsible parent would provide their child with a phone as a protective measure. However in saying this if this was the case the phone should be monitored and a limited amount of credit provided On the other hand parents my decide even at 14 a child is not mature enough to be have a phone and may not allow them to have one until say they have a job and can pay for it. For: *A phone can be a good learning experience for a child. If the chalid is require to wait until they are abl
