Should CBSs Katie Couric share her anchor chair?
Katie Couric should be left alone in her job and that spineless CBS should be kicked in the b- for not supporting her to the maximum. Really, this series of events is not about Katie Couric, it is about the two issues that make CBS squirm in their executive chairs. Issue #1: The evening news programs on all network and cable providers are profitable. They have been the number one contributor to gross and net incomes for many years simply because people tune in the evening news of their choice, even if they don’t look at another 5 minutes of TV. The products advertised on the evening news get the most “looks” of any program on TV! To a lesser extent money is involved in the support for the evening shows. Anchor people earn more than many other regularly appearing person on TV – we are talking millions of bucks for these people.
