I can’t remember who (Roland Michener maybe?), but someone once commented that putting defences on the US – Canada border would be for one of the countries unnecessary, and for the other pointless.

Besides, it would be pretty weird for there to be border defenses around Canada. Usually you put defenses around things of value.
