Should British Airways strikers be sacked?
BA is a business in a serious financial crisis without the problem of strikes. Most of the strikers must be intelligent enough to realise that these strikes will make BA’s financial situation even worse. If BA goes to the wall so do the jobs of all the strikers. In the event, I think a lot of BA staff will actually work rather than risk their livelihoods. I have a cousin who is a member of cabin crew and he says there is a lot of coercion by hardcore Unite union reps on BA crews. And if in the end BA collapses and all these staff lose their jobs who will still be sitting pretty, still with smug smiles on their faces? Unite’s joint general secretaries, Simpson and Woodley, with their jobs and fat salaries still intact. All Unite members are equal, but some Unite members are more equal than others!
