Should Britain ban ritual slaughter?

Yes of course, but more to the point we should ban immigrants from coming to our country who practise this barbaric nonsense

Of course it should be banned, it’s cruel and barbaric and anybody who agrees with it should go to an abattoir and witness the slaughter. It’s time we stopped appeasing these religions.

Animals is food, you don’t abuse or do any harm to the animal before slaughter but western methods of slaughter aren’t nice either if you’ve ever heard a pork processing plant you’d know what i meant. It put me off me bacon for about 12 hours. I’m not pro Judaism or pro Islam but i don’t think there is anything wrong with the way they slaughter their meat. One problem i do have with halal is smoked goat, some of the smokers have been known to keep the guts in and i do not know why and its highly illegal. The geneva convention allows for knives to be used in warfare, a navy seal isn’t going to hold you down to stun you first before he slit your throat or pushed the k-bar into your heart but people complain because an animal gets it throat slit while its still alive and conscious that doesn’t make sense.

If you accept that halal and kosher food forms a central part of two religions then you have to accept that their methods of slaughtering animals for food has to continue. Given that to be the case we cannot then say “No, you cannot do this in the UK” and then accept that the imported carcasses will have travelled many miles more than they need to (global warming) or that it is OK to do it abroad but not here. The conditions in UK slaughter houses are far better for the animal than in those countries which see such barbaric treatment as normal. It is good to be concerned but not if all you do is turn a blind eye to it because it should not be done on your doorstep.
