Should black labrador puppies have any white in their coat?

0

Labradors were bred from newfoundland which are black with white toes and chests. As far as anyone knows all pure black labs are descended from only two dogs, it was not easy to ‘fix’ pure black into the breed (this is why it is so common for black lab crosses to be black with white toes and chests). Black labs are ok to have a white patch on their chest (although it is not considered ideal), but any more than that and they are considered mis-marked. You can get various mis-markings, here is a link that can let you know more: http://www.woodhavenlabs.com/mismarks.
