Should birth control be encouraged as a means of population control in developing countries?
Some people promote wider use of birth control in developing countries in order to reduce the pressure from fast population growth and the shortage of food. In many of these countries, the annual population growth is 2% (from a birth rate of 3.5% and a death rate of 1.5%) which will double the population every 35 years.
