While one can hardly interpret the motive behind an asker’s question, (it being such a large public forum of strangers), I get the vibe that your question is genuine and sincere. Sure, perhaps there’s reason to speculate given the nature of politics, not to mention, sensitivity with respect to race in our country; but its very possible to have “real” questions. Quite honestly, I think it’s a very interesting question and deserves the best possible answer. As you probably know, “monuments” are symbolic. They speak volumes about the historical aspects of our country and throughout the world. The who, how, when, and what kind of monument can determined by any number of groups. That is, it could be citizens/supporters, members of an organization/group, or lawmakers/elected officials. In the case of Mt.
