Should Avatar carry title of highest grossing film?

Titanic, is the highest grossing film in history making $1.8 billion. Titanic’s position could very well be taken away by Avatar as it has already made $1.3 billion. The question that most do not ask but I feel necessary is “should avatar be able to take this title”? Although yes, it is making the cash, Avatar has a few advantages when at the box offices, the biggest being the fact that it plays a total of three different ways. For example, those who have seen the movie on the regular big screen may feel the need to see it in 3D, and then again in 3D Imax in order to take in the full effect of the CGI. Titanic did not have the same luxury. Those who went to see the film saw it one way, and if they enjoyed it exponentially, they went and saw it again the same way.
