Should Australian Navy submarines sink illegal Japanese whalers?

The Japanese have become famous for their callous disregard for other’s life and feelings since World War II and up to the present day. I was repeatedly shocked to talk to educated, liberal seeming Japanese people who felt that the institutionalized rape of Korean women during WW II was not wrong – how much less the murder of whales. While something needs to be done, I think there’s probably nothing that will make them squirm and curtsy (as they do), than economic pressure, like a widespread boycott of Japanese products. I’m afraid simple, nationalistic people like that love warfare and it will only consolidate the right wing in Japan.
