Should australia build a nuclear power plant?

Yes, absolutely! The volume of nuclear waste will be quite small and what is not broadly realized is that the pollution from a coal fired power plant is just as toxic, if not moreso. It releases radioactivity into the air (what? you didn’t know coal was radioactive? It is. Not very radioactive but it is somewhat.) as well as mercury which has no “half-life” and is toxic forever. Further, nuclear waste can be reprocessed back into nuclear fuel and put back into the reactor. A conventional PWR Gen III reactor uses only about 5% of the energy available in the fuel. By reprocessing the fuel up to 95% of the energy can be used. Fuel rods must be removed from a reactor, not because all the energy has been used, but because fission products that absorb neutrons without fissioning themselves poison the reaction such that eventually the reaction would cease. The fuel rods can be reprocessed to remove those neutron poisons and put the remaining transuranic elements (uranium, plutonium, and neptu

Before the construction of nuclear power plant and the disposal of the poisonous wastages, let the australians remove the dirty racial wastage from their mind. From one side they are calling Indian students to have their higher education in their country and from the other side they are creating problems for them. The australian govt should view this seriously and curb it totally. It will not take time for Indians to retaliate, but violence for violence is not an answer. Mahathma Gandhi has taught us the value of patience. Those who have indulged in this sort of violent behaviour are not the true sons of that country. Let them build nuclear plants, noone is not going to stop it.
