Should all handguns be banned?
I say this for multiple reasons. The first is the obvious fact that handguns are very useful means of self defense. In places where the law allows people to carry concealed handguns, the crime rate tends to go down. They are also very useful in defending one’s home against a would be rapist, burglar, robber or murderer. Second, government bans lots of things, generally not very successfully. Look at how successful our outlawing of marijuana and other controlled substances has been. When you consider how many handguns are in the country now, the costs of trying to confiscate existing weapons would be astronomical. Doesn’t law enforcement have enough to do without hassling law abiding citizerns to turn in their weapons? If handguns were to become illegal, that would just add one more category of contraband to be smuggled into the US. Personally, I’d rather than our borders be closed first to suitcase nukes, hand held surface to air missles and biological threats rather than handguns. Opi
