Should abortion serve these functions in the USA today?
No one uses abortion as birth control. Even Planned Parenthood will admit that abortion is traumatic for a woman’s body and should only be a last resort. The proper way to control population is to hold fathers and mothers personally accountable for all children they conceive, and to restrict them from having more if they are unwilling to provide for the ones they have. I think sex and pregnancy are worth the risks. I’d rather die in childbirth than live a life of chastity. Others can choose differently. No one should ever be forced to have sex, and if forcing a woman to have sex turns out to cause her death, then the rapist should also be prosecuted for murder. I know that killing people with special needs before they are born makes it easier for society, but no one ever said that doing what’s right will always be easy.
