Should a student who is weak on the AP Calculus BC topics take the AP Calculus AB Exam to ensure a higher score?
That should not be necessary. All AP Calculus BC students get an “AB subscore” grade based on the AB-level questions that appear on the BC exam. (There are many topics common to both courses.) With a BC grade of 2 and an AB subscore grade of 4, for example, a student is fairly sure to get a semester of credit and might still get a full year.
