The points system is a great idea – if it applies to all immigrants equally. The problem with the points system is that it is negated by Australia’s commitment to the Refugee convention, in which Australia has agreed to allow refugees into Australia – who have absolutely no abilities or are beneficial to Australia. They are allowed into Australia on humanitarian grounds. Allowing refugees into Australia completely undermines the Points system which then stops good hard working people from coming into Australia in favour of refugees. I believe that everyone equally should be allowed to come to Australia – as long as they have abilities such as good english, a commitment to becoming good Australians, working hard, learning what Australia is about, and forgetting their loyalties to their previous country.
