Shooting an Elephant” essay topic help?
I LOVE Orwell. Shooting of an Elephant is a classic read. You have to know a little bit about ORwell and where he wrote his read. He was in India and witnessed this shooting. Obviously, the writing is about the Dealth Penalty. Eye for an eye type of thing. The death penalty is a great equalizer in many people’s eyes except when you have to witness someone’s death. The great length in which he descirbes the suffering of the elephant, not to mention the scare the elephant puts into the community. I don’t think the point of the writing is what Orwell feels, but rather what the elephant is feeling. Start with that for a thesis and use the time and place Orwell was in when he wrote it. Further, use proof of the fact that the elephant was the center of the writing no matter what occured. Finally, use Orwell’s feeling of sickness and sadness to further point out the fact that death is easy to administer if you don’t have to withness it. Good to see schools still have students read Orwell.
