Sharp spikes in fuel prices, material costs for substations and power line construction, and wholesale power costs continue to impact the rates that members pay for electricity each month. WHY didn the co-op give us more notice about the additional charges to the GRE Power Cost Rider(s)?
GRE announced its decision to assess additional power charges in October. It left us with a choice to pass on the increases immediately, or wait, and pass on an even higher adjustment at the end of the year. If the board had waited to act, the impact on the GRE Power Cost Rider would be far greater in two months than it is today, so the board chose to act now, rather than pass on a more severe adjustment later.
