Share dealing, whats the meaning of share price, bid and ask.?
The share price is the actual value of the share. The bid price is the price to sell a share, and the ask is the price to buy the share. The bid/ask change depending on the underlying share value. The difference between bid/ask is called the spread. Companies buying and selling equities make their money based on the spread. Eg, a share worth 100p will have spread of 97-103.
