Shall i quit my job and go to university?
It’s a difficult situation. As a student, you would be entitled to student loans (paid back at a very low rate once you get a job of over £15,000 per year after your degree), but I doubt that would compare to your engineering salary. But if you were willing to take a bit of a cut in your standard of living, then you would probably be okay, especially if you have a bit of money saved up. Also, many students do part-time work (usually up to around 16 hours per week), so that would bring a bit more money in. It’s a big risk, to quit your job and re-train, but I understand that it’s important to do what you enjoy. I don’t know how advanced your graphic design knowledge is, but one idea is to do a course at your local college. Most further education colleges offer evening classes, so you could build up your expertise that way. So you could go along one or two evenings a week and gain a qualification whilst still working.
