Several logos in portfolio are marked as unused. What does that mean?

Several logos with ‘unused’ tag in upper left corner were abandoned by their clients before project completion. Only few of them have been put in my portfolio as I could not resist their looks, despite being abandoned. If you wish to adopt one of these, let me know.
