Session, Contributions Prohibited During: Does the prohibition apply to all candidates or only incumbents?
The provision applies to monetary and in-kind contributions to elected state officials, members of the general assembly, or candidates for state office on any day during the regular legislative session and, in the case of the governor or a gubernatorial candidate, during the thirty days following the adjournment of a regular legislative session allowed for the signing of bills. Review specific information, including exceptions for special elections, in Iowa Code chapter 68A and the Board’s rules in Chapter 351 of the Iowa Administrative Code. This prohibition applies to Iowa PACs and out-of-state PACs only; state and county party committees may contribute to candidates at any time and receive contributions from candidates at any time.
