Serpentine belt?
They are probably just suggesting it based on your mileage… on many vehicles it is hard to inspect, so the mechanic just recommends it without knowing if you have done it or not. All you need to do is say “I had it replaced 10,000 miles ago (or whatever)” If it is time to replace it again, based on mileage, they will tell you so after they know when the last time it was done. Most people will only replace them once or twice on a vehicle, they don’t own the vehicle long enough to do it more than that. Check your owners manual for the listed times in there, otherwise every 60,000 miles should be good enough. Alot of vehicles will go 100,000 miles before the belt needs to be replaced though, it just depends. If you don’t have your owners manual you can ask the dealer, or autozone. You should get a printout of your whole maintenance schedule for your vehicle, this will help you be more savvy in the future.
