Self help for sinus infections?

The best way to self manage sinus infections is with nasal flushing using saline nasal spray and judicious limited use of topical decongestants, such as oxymetazoline. Caution is needed when using topical decongestants as they can be habit forming. Continued use may actually contribute to blockage. We are big fans of long, hot steaming showers. Oral decongestants, such as pseudoephedrine, and oral antihistamines, such as cetirizine or fexofenadine or loratadine, will be helpful for runny, itching noses. The neti pot use of saline flushes is also helpful, if used on a regular basis.
