Offering Friendship will allow you to see that persons online status, as well as giving them other optional privileges such as being able to see where you are on the Second Life map or giving them edit rights to objects that belong to you. They will also be very easy to access so that you can Instant message (IM) or give objects in the communication panel. With friends, you will also see a notice as they come online and go offline as you are in world. Giving a person a calling card places a card in their inventory under calling cards so that you may click on it to access their profile easily.
