School Speech. WHY IS AMERICA TRIPPIN?
America isn’t tripping, just the wing-nuts. The talking heads who constantly lie to them, and who they mindlessly believe, have got them all ginned up over the president of the US telling children to study hard, pursue their dreams, and become contributing members of society. I don’t know that most won’t listen. Teachers who use some of the suggested discussion and activity ideas (which the wing-nuts are also up in arms about) can help with that, as they promote active listening, and analysis and application afterward. And, Obama is cool. He has a lot of cred that way. He can be a very inspiring speaker. When you also consider the racial education gap we still have, and the fact that a lot of Black kids will be listening to someone powerful, intelligent, and articulate who looks like them tell them to buckle down and learn, I wouldn’t dismiss the potential effect.
