Sales tax revenues are stabilized in Yorkville.Why?
A. The United City of Yorkville’s sales tax revenues currently are stabilized due to the economy. Although F.E. Wheaton, one of the city’s main sales tax generators, revenues have declined, new development within Yorkville has helped close that gap. Consequently, the city’s sales tax dollars have been maintained at a stable level. There are also several other reasons that sales tax revenues in the city have stabilized. The primary reason is that consumers have less money for soft goods and non essentials than they did just one year ago. The current economic downtown throughout the country has caused consumers to be very cautious. Consequently consumers are cutting back on purchasing large taxable items such as a new car, wide screen TVs, or large appliances.
