Round Ligament Pain, Why Does it Hurt?
One of the most popular pains felt during a woman’s pregnancy deals with her round ligaments. Your round ligaments are what holds and supports your uterus, and when pregnant and as the uterus grows, the ligaments are pulled and stretched causing an enormous amount of pain. More importantly, the pain is due to them hitting nerve fibers and sensitive structures near and around your uterus. Characterized as a sharp pain that forms or radiates in the abdominal, hip or groin area, it’s most common on the right side, however, the pain can be felt on either side as your round ligaments stretch or spasm.
