Roofing is easy! Right?
You know anybody can put a roof on a make it look good. You can go to any hardware store, buy the shingles and nails, use the instructions on the package and install a great roof, right? Think again? Your roof is the second most important part of your home next to the foundation it sits on. It is not only 75% of the “look appeal” of your home, it also protects all of the valuable items in the home. Roofing shingles are designed to shed water off of the house and onto the ground or gutters. They are, however, sometimes compromised. Storms of all types can contribute to water & moisture making their way underneath the shingles. UH-OH! Now what? That is where your underlayments come in to play. Felt is, or least should be used on every roof. It acts as protection in the event moisture finds itself where it should not belong. But, what about those places on a roof the water likes to gather the most. Those are your valleys. ICE & WATER SHEILD vs. ROLL METAL Here’s an experiment. Place a pie
