A. Road Runner Ice Melt, available in 50 lb. boxes, is a blend of Calcium Chloride, Magnesium Chloride, Sodium Chloride and Potassium Chloride. The first two are the most important, because they let Road Runner Ice Melt begin melting ice immediately upon impact, so it can generate melting heat fast. Because of the way it is blended, Road Runner effectively melts ice down to minus 15o (most blended ice melters only melt ice down to 0o). If you’re using urea, rock salt, or potassium chloride, they only work down to 20o to 25o.
